Posted by Steve on March 11, 2005: So, where to begin? Well, with this week's comic I guess. Bob gets into detail on that, so I'll just say a few things. 1) I think it looks great. It's some of Bob's best work yet. 2) I don't know where it came from. I had a customer that refused to believe I didn't have something in stock, and by the time I got home, it was a Dr. Seuss style comic. Don't ask me. 3) Don't read too much into Train being the cd in question. They're ok I guess, but their starring role says more about how easy it is to rhyme "train" with other words than my appreciation for the band.
The new layout. Mostly Bob's idea. I take credit for the idea for the archive page, but the actual layout was mainly his idea. I think it looks pretty slick, but my opinion is obviously biased. Everything should run smoothly, but if you spot anything odd, feel free to let me know.
Oh, at the bottom of this page is a link to a thread on the forum where you can talk about this (yes, this very!) newspost. Or the comic, I suppose. Just something we're trying out.
Well, I'll let bob do the rest of the talking. See you next week.

Posted by Bob on March 11, 2005: Hopefully, you notice some changes around here. I don't see how you couldn't NOT notice, but I suppose it's technically possible. This is a layout Steve and I have been working on for quite a while now, and I hope you all like it. And when I say "We've been working on it," I mean I drew it out on paper and said "Can you make this in HTML?" And then I just sat back and had some personal coke and whore time while he did all the work, with my constant badgering of "Do it better, asshole!" So, yeah, it was a team effort. It seemed like this was the best time to unveil it, seeing as today begins our fourth year in business here.
Three years in the bank, can you believe it? Back when we hit two years, Steve said "Anyway, the fact that we've been doing this, that we've actually stuck to this for two years, is such a strange concept that I can't even wrap my brain around it." I agree with him there, cause neither one of us figured we'd be doing this comic for any extended amount of time. We don't make any money off of this, we're not particularly well known as far as webcomics go, but I can't imagine doing anything else. So, to our fans and followers, and to the people who read us just to make fun of us, I say thank you for sticking around. I truly enjoy the fact that on any given day, someone in Japan is going to fire up their computer and point their browser our way just to see what we're up to. (That's true, too. Steve has showed me where our hits come from, and they are from all over the world. In one case, there were hits coming from a country neither of us had heard of. We had to look it up to see where some of our readers were from. How crazy is that?) I love trying to entertain people, and it's really cool to think that we're making you laugh, so I've gotta say that I truly appreciate it. Thank you.
Oh, I would also like to say that Dr Seuss' birthday was on March 2nd, so let's consider this week's comic our little birthday present. I hope the man doesn't object. Steve and I are genuine fans, and I hope no one reads this week's comic as a shot at his work, or poking fun at him in any way. It's our way of saying thanks, and it's our way of tributing. So I hope you all like it. It was strange to draw like this, as my style is miles away from Seuss'. I really liked the coloring though, because there was no shading. That part really went quick! And for those keeping score, the shots on the TV are from the Lorax, which I feel is Seuss' best work. If you haven't read it or seen it before, I'm sure you can find the book relatively cheap, and I know the movie is available on DVD, so you have no excuse!
So, in this update, don't think Steve did all the work; I did a bunch of new art here and there for various things. Check out the archives, because there's four new pictures up there. Also, the logo has been expanded, and also has some variation in it. As of now, there's seven different logos, one for each of the characters, and one of the double T's. And I'd be crazy if I didn't upload the first art Steve did for the comic, and here it is. I wasn't sure what to do with the year three image, and that is what Steve suggested. Strangely enough, it worked, and I came up with a drawing for it.
Well, I think that's all I've got as far as the site info goes. I haven't seen Steve's post, but I assume he's gonna talk about more of them, or he already did...I don't know if he get's top post this week or if I do. Anyway, onto the links. How's about some information on the next Nintendo console? Unfortunately, it looks like they're going online. I don't like the sound of this...I hope it doesn't effect the games too much. Nintendo always makes the most fun games, so I don't want to see anything change that.
So, "Head," the guitarist from Korn, quit the band and found religion. Okay, that happens. Well, check him out now. A bit of a transformation, but, hey. Whatever makes him happy, I suppose.
What else, what else...Oh! How about some cops being tazered? That's always good. You'd think they'd have something better to do, but you'd be wrong, apparently.
Have I ever linked to Questionable Content before? This is a great, great comic, people. I don't think a week goes by where I don't send Amanda a link to the new comic to check out cause I think it's hilarious. You should really read this one; QC is one of the best comics on the 'net.
This link is more for my friend Bill than anyone else, but you all can check it out too. Look at it-a giant shredder! Hell yeah, I'd love to shred some stuff up in there.
I love old book covers. They're so goofy! I think "Pagan Lesbian" and "Gay Bar Slut" may be my favorites of the bunch.
It's fun watching teachers freak out.
It's been a while since I've really talked about video games here on the site, so I think I'm going to now. Let's see...Recently, I've finished Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, X-Men Legends, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, The Punisher, Resident Evil 4, and just the other day, Mercenaries. I thought there was something else...Anyway. I'm rather proud of myself, I don't usually finish games I buy. Maybe I'll take on Transformers next. It's great that nothing I really want has come out lately, and nothing is on the horizon outside of NARC, which I wasn't gonna get, but it's being released at the magical twenty dollar price point. So that's a definate maybe. Then there's Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. I'd definately like to get some more use out of those Donkey Konga Bongo drums. Of course there's Wrestlemania 21 for the 'Box. I have always loved wrestling games, so I don't see myself skipping this. But do I need to buy any of these right away? Probably not. Will I buy them all right away? Maybe one of them. Only time will tell.
I've still got so many games to play though...I got Metroid Prime 2 for Christmas, and not only have I not played it, I haven't even taken the damn instructions out of the case. I've heard bad things about this game though...Thankfully, I've got a Pro Action Replay for the 'Cube, so I can just Terminator my way through it. I figure I've finished enough games legitamately in my time, I can cheat if I want to. That's another thing. I hate it when game developers make it impossible to get the cheat codes going in games. Manhunt comes to mind. You have to more or less finish the game with idiot savant like perfection in order to unlock the codes-If you can unlock the codes, you don't need to use them. I paid the fifty dollars, don't tell me what I can or can not do with my game, you pricks! I also got Prince of Persia: Warrior Within for Christmas, and I am barely into that. I ADORED Sands of Time, so I was a bit skeptical when they said they were making WW more of a fighting game. From what I played, it seems good. In SoT, the fighting wasn't balanced, and seemed tacked on in order to make the game longer. Like, you platform for an hour, then fight like, 79841312565741 guys all at once because you haven't had a fight in a while. In WW, it seems like it's more balanced-ten minutes of platforming, ten of fighting, ten of platforming, etc. It seems to work, but there's these stupid ninja bitches that are in the game and are a pain in the ass to fight, so I haven't gotten very far.
I Picked up NBA Street Volume 2 cause A: Steve said it was fun, and B: It was at the magic twenty dollar mark. It's not too bad, but I think it would be a lot more fun with more people. It's criminally bad with defense though...You can goal tend literally every basket and never have any trouble. I'm going through with my team the Carolina Muffins, consisting of Billy the Fist, Heavy G, Quentin Quinten, Tits McGee, and Wang Wing Wong. I don't know how much longer I'll go before I quit for good, because you can only goaltend to a dunk so many times. It's a relatively simplistic control scheme, but still, it's too much for me. Sports games anymore are way too much for me to handle-I long for the days of Tecmo Bowl and Double Dribble. I can handle just about anything else, but sports games...I just can't hang.
Part of me just wants to play through Nights again. Not Knights of the Old Republic, Nights into Dreams, for the Saturn. My Saturn is still hooked up and working. It's a beautiful system; Modded with a switch for US/Japanese, and of course a RAM cart. I've got all the good 2D fighters for it. A very criminally underappreciated system, if you ask me. Another part of me wants to just find my rom cds and play through NES, commodore 64 and arcade games all day long. Yet another part of me wants to pull out my Genesis games and plug the Sega Nomad right next to my bed in and blast my way through every Sega game I have. And part of me just wants a Krispy Kreme.
Then another part of me wants to buy a PSP. I was ready to buy a DS at one point in time, but the more I thought about it, the more and more I just heard my brain screaming "VIRTUAL BOY 2K5, YOU PRICK!" so I passed on that impulse. I don't know why Nintendo thought that the one thing we needed in games was to be able to tough the screen. The only game I've seen that really appeals to me on that system is that XX/XY: Feel the Magic game, and I certainly can't justify spending 150 bucks to pick that game up. I can think of maybe three times in my life that I thought to myself "You know, this game would benefit from another screen with more info on it," albeit with less fancy language. GTA: SA comes to mind, cause that fucking map was sooo tiny. ANYWAY, I'm interested to see what Sony can do with a handheld. Granted, I don't play much handheld stuff, (My GBASP sits in a drawer.) but it seems like an interesting system. I've seen the movies for Ridge Racer PSP, and it looks pretty good. And they have a Metal Gear game coming out for it, so that automatically grabs my attention. Granted, it's a Metal Gear CARD GAME, but still. It's Metal Gear.
So, I suppose that's all I've got to say about games for now. And that's about ALL I have to say for now. I think I am going to head off, cause this is a monster post. I'd be impressed if you made it all the way through, in all honesty. So, I will be back in a week, with Steve in tow.
