posted by StevePosted by Steve on February 7, 2003: Believe it or not, the screens in this week's strip are from a volleyball game. I'll let that sink in.

Upon close review of our strips, we have come to the conclusion that this week marks strip number 50. To celebrate, we offer you these fine wallpapers, cause we think that when you're sitting there staring at your monitor, you want me and Bob to be staring back. That, and someone asked for them. (well, one of them at least.)

Everyone go have a look at Fish Strips. Not only do they link to us, but they even pimped us in their news post. And if sites that link to us get chicks, sites that pimp us in their news post get...I don't know, coke and whores or something. So go check 'em out.

Newsflash: Michael Jackson is weird.

Ok, that's all for now. See you next week.

So the subject of our comic this week is Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball. I picked this game up as soon as I saw it, because as most of you probably don't know, I'm a big fan of volleyball games. Ever since the incredible Super Spike V'Ball for the good ol' NES I've been into them. It's a shame that most people are going to only check this game out for the fan service factor, cause it's a really good volleyball sim.

First things first, this game is beautiful. Team Ninja knows how to make a game look good. But getting past that, the actual gameplay is pretty fun. It doesn't deviate from what you'd expect a volleyball game to be. Where the true fun in the game comes is in collecting. If you ever played the first Dead or Alive, you know how many costumes that Team Ninja is capable of putting in a game. DOAXBV does not disappoint in that area, as there are a ton of swimsuits you have to buy for the girls. You can also buy accessories, like shoes or glasses.

The game takes place over a two week period at Zack's island, and when the day ends, you go back to your hotel. Every night, Zack pops in and gives you presents, and sometimes the other girls will too. This is why I am playing this game so much...See, Zack hands out videos from time to time, with stuff like DOA2 real time demos, the European DOA3 commercial, (Which is much better than the american one-It doesn't have those little weinery "She kicks high" jags.) Anyway, one of the things you can find is the Trailer for the new Ninja Gaiden game. I have yet to find it in 9 hours, but I'm gonna keep trying. And why do I have a feeling that as soon as I find it, The game will quickly collect dust...Hmmm, I'm weird like that.

Anyway, that's my quick review for DOAXBV in a nutshell. If you have an Xbox, I'd recommend it pretty highly. If you don't have an Xbox, pick up Beach Spikers for Gamecube. If you don't have a Gamecube, well, then download Super Spike V'ball for a Nintendo emulator, because Playstation 2 doesn't have a volleyball game that I know of. See ya next week!
