Revenge Part 2: Attack of the Worthless Superhero

Posted by Steve on November 9, 2002: If you liked last week's strip, (and who wouldn't?) you'll be happy to know that this week's strip is more of the same. I assume Bob will have something to say about Aquaman, so I'll leave that to him. We wrap this one up next week, so stay tuned.

From the "this site is too fucking hard to navigate" department, we've added those sweet little links on each comic that will take you to the previous comic, the next comic, or the current comic. We really should have had this a long time ago. I flat out don't know how the hell we missed that. Of course, this is all new, so there may be errors/dead links. If you happen to spot any, feel free to let me know.

On to other update news. Monkey has written one of those review things for Stuntman 2. You can find it here.

Looks like Axl Rose has once again caused a riot at a concert. Eh, fuck 'em. Serves 'em right for actually paying to see that band. (which I refuse to recognize as Guns N' Roses)

Posted by Bob on November 9, 2002: So...Did y'all see the Daredevil trailer yet? Pretty....interesting, I must say. I won't say whether this one will be good or bad, as I thought both X-Men AND Spider-Man were gonna suck, and we both know how those turned out. You know, Spider-Man came out on DVD on a Friday, and I watched it Saturday, I watched it Sunday and I watched it Monday. Yeah, you can say I kinda dug it.

So after watching the Daredevil trailer, I gotta ask why these movie people want the superhero movies to look more realistic. I mean, look at X-Men compared to Spider-Man. THe X-Men costumes were changed from the comics, and made into all dark leather, ala The Matrix. Spider-Man was kept in the classic blue and reds, with the exception of making the webs on the costume white, which actually makes sense, as I've never seen a spider weave black web. But the point is that they left the world and the characters in the bright primary colors that make the comics so amazing. Which looked better? You're darn right Spider-Man looked better! I know Daredevil is a "dark" hero, but I think they should have left the costume the way it was. But ah well. What do I know, I'm just some dude with a web site and an opinion.

Onto Aquaman. What the heck is the point? Ooooh, I can talk to fish! THAT'S a skill that'll come in handy when fighting the Joker! Good thing they killed him off in the comics...Too bad they're bringing him back. I mean, Marvel has Namor, the Sub Mariner, but at least he is an interesting character. he's a total jerk, for one, but he's also invulnerable to bullets, super strong, he can fly, and move really fast. Aquaman? Ummm...he's got long hair and a hook. Yeah, so did Captain Hook, and some little boy girl who hung around with a fairy beat him. AND he got eaten by an alligator! Come on, Aquaman! Take some inspiration from your long lost brother! Get killed and stay dead!

In other news, I got a new scanner! That really won't affect the comic too much, as my original pencils have never been seen in a comic, but it's cool for me. It's so funny how technology changes over the years...My old scanner was like, 6 inches thick, and this new one is like, under an inch...wonder what it'll be like in ten years?

I hope you like my little avatar up there, because it's gonna change soon...I know, the blonde one was there for a while, and the brown hair one has been up for..umm...this post, but it's time for something new! Something...primary colored...we shall see.

And now, before I go, I will just say that I was searching through some old Penny Arcade comics recently...and I came across this one. Pretty good eh, now...I think I win, because I have a girlfriend that can quote Bill Hicks AND sing Rocky Horror. Beat that, suckers!
