Posted by Bob on July 14, 2006: As I write this, today's comic still isn't quite done, but I feel relatively safe in saying it will be done soon, possibly by the time I finish writing this, so I figure now is as good a time as any to write my post. I think today's comic might be one that people who don't work in retail do not understand. See, no matter what how big the store hours are displayed on the front door, even if the gate that you lock up is down, or even if there's no cars in the lot, people will try to get in after you lock the doors. One time when we were all leaving the Depot, some lady tried to push past us as we were all leaving the main door to get in. The alarm is on, the registers are empty. Fuck off, lady!
Oh, and if you're one of those people who think we'll let you in if you knock, die in a fire.
Two more things about the comic, a. I think I may have used this customer before...I can't really remember. All my people look generic. B. I'm not quite sure why Bob always towers over every customer there is. He's only six feet tall.
So, Liz and I just got back from seeing Pirates of the Caribbean 2, (part of the reason the comic isn't done yet, heh,) and wow, was it fantastic. I thought this year, in this order, it'd go X3, Superman, Pirates. I was in the exact wrong order. X3 sucked. Superman was good but was missing something. It wasn't fun. It was a good movie, but slow and missing the humor that the old Superman movies did. Pirates though, was easily my favorite movie this year. To be fair, I can't honestly remember all the movies I've seen this year, but still. Definitely worth seeing. Better than the first one.
So, it seems the island of Malta no longer exists. Or so Google would have you believe. How do they lose an entire island?
Here's an article about the places where it's easiest to get your identity stolen. So if you live in any of those cities, um, try harder to protect your shit, I guess. I don't live there, so fuck it. I'm good.
When I can't find good countdowns, I give you lists. Here is a list of 25 great Calvin and Hobbes comics. Watterson ended it in 95, and still, 11 years later, it's miles better than any other comic in newspapers. The person who wrote that article says "I can confidently state that Calvin & Hobbes outclasses the rest of the comic strip world more than anything else has ever outclassed the rest of its medium. " And it's true.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. always back up your important shit. I've got my mp3s on their main hard drive. They also live on a backup drive. There's even backup dvds of my collection. Everything else on my computer is pretty much replaceable, but it would take years to re-collect everything I've gotten. So I back up the important shit. Why this guy wouldn't back up something worth millions is beyond me.
I *think* I've linked to this before, but if not, here it is again, just in case. waste some time with some Nintendo goodness. No downloads needed, they all play in Java.
I know people get Photoshopped on the covers of magazines pretty frequently, but I didn't realize that sometimes people need their hands done.
And with that, I'm out of material. Back in a week.
