posted by BobPosted by Bob on September 30, 2005: All right, the new comic is posted, as you have come to expect. It's the first one shot comic we've done in a while. I'm okay with that. Although truth be told, I really like doing long running stories over one shots. Anyhow, I tried a couple new things in the coloring of this one, but looking at the finished product (and next week's too, which is done,) it doesn't look much different and it is more time consuming. So, I'll probably stick with what I know, even though I don't really like it. But, I'll keep trying other styles until I find something I like.

But I did use something else new coloring the comic, which I learned from Greg, who in turn learned it from Ian McConville. Learning from the best here, folks! Anyway, it, as Greg says, is used to "equalize ambient colors across a panel - it kind of subdues overly bright tones and makes it feel more realistic." So, I did that. It makes the colors not quite as saturated as they normally appear, and in turn, a bit more realistic. Now if only I could get the shading to look right...

One more thing about the comic's art, I swear that's it! Look at all those video game boxes in the background. I painted each one! I hope you like them, because I'm sure we'll see them again. Mega mega points to anyone who can point them all out. (I'm looking at you, Jason.) Maybe I should start a post in the forum about it? Why yes, I think I will post in the forum. You should all go to the forum and check it out. Oh, did I mention Steve actually started a topic recently in the forum? It's true, he did! In our very own forum! Like I said, go there and check it out!

God, all that self pimping hurts. Maybe it's cause I want people to go to the forum and post more. Or maybe it's because the "R.I.P." post hurt a little. Anything is possible.

Okay, after all that, I actually have some real links to give too! First off, we've got this fantastic video. Someone took a bunch of clips from the Shining and...Eh, I won't spoil it. Just check it out. It's pretty funny!

So, this may not be as an exciting a link as I tend to post, but I think it's neat. I didn't know stingrays were big jumpers, but apparently I was wrong. I think that would be the coolest thing to see. Not freaking terrifying like that one. If you ever get the chance to see the Jaws Mythbusters special, make sure you watch it. They show a shark actually jumping like that, and it's incredible to see in motion.

Speaking of Mythbusters...Why didn't anyone tell me about this show before? It's got to be the best show on TV. Too bad the DVDs are so damned expensive. 100 bucks for a season? FUCK YOU. No way. Not gonna happen. I will gladly accept donations from my beloved readers though. I'll draw you anything you want! Hell, original comic art, commisioned art, you name it. It's yours in trade!

Somehow, I don't think that's gonna work. But I am open for commissions and such, if anyone's interested.

Like I've said many times in the past, some people have entirely too much money. But, I have to admit that would be one of the coolest places ever to live. I wonder how they actually designed it, because the Simpsons house is kinda like Relentless Records. It changes shape sometimes in order to make a joke work.

And here we have some dude playing a classical song on an electric guitar. And doing a damned good job of it. It reminds me of all those video game songs covered by real instruments type of sites. Just fantastic stuff.

And speaking of the video game covers, I found two more sites. First up we have Mega Driver, which is a Brazilian metal band that covers video game music. Next up, we've got Umm...XOC. Sorry, I didn't see a real site name. Anyhow, this is, as the site describes, "The complete soundtrack to Super Mario World, covered by one man using dozens of instruments." Pretty fantastic stuff there.

Well, that's all I've got. Except for one thing. It's a YTMND site, but the song made me laugh. I present to you: THE EMO SONG! Back in a week, crew.

posted by StevePosted by Steve on September 30, 2005: New comic here. The whole thing is basically a conversation me and Bob have had a few times. Well, except for the weird ending.

Bob and Jason both have a thing for Burnout Revenge. I played a race or two on a demo, and it seems cool enough. Since I'm cheap, and don't normally go in for racing games, I opted for the cheaper Burnout 3 instead. It's...half cool. The crash events are a blast. The racing events, on the other hand, remind me of all the reasons I don't play racing games. The cpu is never more than a few seconds behind, no matter how well you drive or how many times you make them crash. I don't expect them to be completely out of the race after one takedown, that'd end up being pretty boring. However, I also don't expect to take them out, then have them go sailing past me when I take the very next turn a bit wide. Also, they don't seem to be governed by the same rules as I am in terms of the whole turbo thing, because it seems like each cpu racer hits turbo right off the line, and never lets up. But, it's still 20 bucks well spent, if for the crashing alone. I just wish the racing parts didn't suck.

Found this linked on some forum, and thought it was funny.

That's actually all I've got today. As far as the game pricing thing, I'll probably talk more about it next week. See you then.
