posted by BobPosted by Bob on June 24, 2005: Before we get into this week's comic, I want to make sure you all know that next week we're updating on WEDNESDAY instead of Friday. Why? Because Steve is going out of town, and he doesn't trust me enough to update the site on my own. I can't imagine why.

Okay. Onto the comic. I think Steve is trying to kill me. Seriously, one week, it's a giant crowd scene. The next, a baseball game. We don't usually lift entire sections of dialogue from a movie or show to use in a comic, but this one seemed to work. Well, I assume Steve did, because when he went to write it, I hadn't seen the Untouchables. He said to me "Were you born in this country? You've grown up this close to Chicago and have never seen the Untouchables?" Well, I hadn't. But, I have it on DVD. So, Steve had me rip the speech and send it to him. I have watched the movie since then, and it is really good. Definately worth watching.

If I had this comic to do over again, I'd expand the BAM panel, so that Bob and the Guy weren't cut off by the panels. Ah well. I actually thought of this while I was very out of town, so there was no real way to fix it in time. Maybe next time.

Oooh, Amanda and I saw Batman Begins last week. Man oh man is it fantastic. There's not a single part in the movie where I thought "This should have been cut," or "This is going on too long." The only real downside was Katie Holmes character. And I don't say this because I don't like her or whatever, I say this because her character was very much unneeded throughout the entire movie. I think it would have been even better if it was Harvey Dent in that part; that would have been cool. Christian Bale was perfect as Bruce Wayne and Batman, he did a phenomenal job. There's one awesome scene where he's interrogating a guy, and the guy cries "I swear to god!" and Batman just yells at him "SWEAR TO ME!" It was easily, in my opinion, the best scene in the movie. And the ending sets up PERFECTLY for part two. There's no way around it. Oh, the best thing about Batman Begins? The don't kill off the villains. That was the biggest problem with all the other ones, the bad guys all end up dead. The Joker? Only one of the best Batman villains ever? Dead after one movie. That's just fucking brilliant. Anyway. Trust me, you have to see this movie.

I picked up the game too, but I haven't gotten to play it much, because Amanda and I went to Cedar Point for the weekend. I didn't have a ton of time. What little I've played so far seemed pretty fun though. My biggest complaint is how the movie clips are inserted into the game; they just start too early and end too suddenly, if that makes sense. Trust me, if you play the game you'll know what I mean. Anyway, onto some links!

So, I'm sure you know that I'm not a big sports fan. But, you may not really know that I used to be a HUGE basketball fan. So I can link to basketball videos. It's okay. Videos such as this. I wonder how that guy felt after that. Man. I bet his coach ripped him in two.

Here's a fun game that's somewhere between air hockey and bumper cars.

Oooh! I love pages about creepy album covers! Pooh Man? Are you fucking kidding me? What the hell kind of name is that for a musician?

TOM CRUISE HAS BEEN SHOT! And it couldn't be any funnier as to his reaction. I guess part of Scientology is to make people feel bad.

Woo, high speed camera gallery! This is worth checking out just for the water balloon video alone. (The fourth one on the top row.)

Okay, now seriously, if you're standing in front of a gun this big, wouldn't you think you should stand back a bit? I mean come on, that's just day one stuff fellas.

Ah, it's about time I posted someone getting hurt. I love the dude's stance, however. And with that, I'm outta links.

Back in a week folks, and remember, next week we're updating on Wednesday, not Friday.

posted by BobPosted by Steve on June 24, 2005: A new comic has been produced. You may view it here. Note: Bob's speech is from the great cinema epic The Untouchables. In case you were gonna accuse us of ripping it off. It's from a great part in the movie (If you haven't, see it.) and I thought it applied here.

Which brings us to the main point of the comic. It turns out there's quite a few people who sit in seats behind home plate and, instead of watching the game, choose to wave frantically at the camera while talking to whoever called them and told them that they were on T.V. If by any chance you're one of these people, please be aware that you suck. That is all.

Yes, next Wednesday is the super special "Steve's going out of town" edition. Note that by Wednesday we mean late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning. And no, I don't trust Bob to do the update. Perhaps a quick story.

Once upon a time we had a little script that ran at the top of the page. It opened a file full of random quotes, picked one, (at random, as you might have guessed) and displayed it. Simple. You want to add more quotes, you throw it in the file.

One day Bob apparently had some quotes he wanted to enter. No problem right? Wrong. I check out the site that night and see every single quote in the quote file displayed on the main page, with a post from Bob basically saying "Oh shit! I broke the site!" That was a basic quote script. The site has gotten quite a bit more complex than that. I'm pretty sure that if he tried to do the html now, he just might find a way to delete the entire site. See you next week.
