posted by BobPosted by Bob on April 15, 2005: New comic can be found here, same as it ever was. As Steve often says, we love it when we're accidentally topical. It works out rather well. I kinda cheaped out on the main Link panel background, I'll admit. But it would have been too much wall color otherwise. I wanted something colorful in there.

So, let's start off this post with a big "FUCK YOU!" to Comcast. My connection has been really kinda crappy as of late, as has Steve's and Amanda's. And from what I've read, a lot of other people's too, cause it seems Comcast has had "some severe outages recently." Whatever that means. What it means to you, my loyal minion..err, reader, is that I probably won't have a ton of links for this week, cause when you wait five minutes for a small .wmv file to buffer, (a 560k file!) you tend to get a little annoyed and just say "Oh hell with this" and close the fucking window altogether. One movie I was waiting for climbed up to 60% buffered, and then slowly sank back down to 30, one percent at a time. So whatever that was, we won't be seeing it this particular week. Anyway, on to the links and such.

If you don't really know me personally, you probably don't know I've (for some unknown reason,) taught myself how to throw cards. I don't mean in a cool way, like winging 52 playing cards in a row into a hat, I mean in a violent way, like "Ow, I just got hit in the neck with a card!" Why I do things like this, I don't know. I just do. I've got the free time. Anyhow, now that I can do that, I need to learn how to do something like this. I have no idea how this guy does it; it just baffles my mind. But maybe someday, I'll be able to do that too...

I don't really know the point of this stuff existing, but I think it's really kinda cool nonetheless.

New trailer is up for Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It's probably also up somewhere better like the Apple site, but this is the first place I found it. Anyway, I want to know who Johnny Depp is aping as Willy Wonka in this. He tends to observe other people and act like them in his movies, like in Pirates of the Caribbean, Jack Sparrow was based off of Keith Richards. I've read that he based Wonka on Marilyn Manson, but I really doubt that to be true. That's what IMDB has listed too, but I've realized that some of that stuff at IMDB is kind of suspect.

Who ever thought the news could be so much fun? This guy gets the coveted (uh-huh) Dahlstrom Award for best reaction of the year, possibly ever. I've honeztly (I know how it's spelled, but I accidentally hit Z instead of S, but I'm leaving it like that, for posterity and all) watched this guy like, ten times since I found the video. It just keeps making me laugh.

And of course it wouldn't be a quality update from me if we didn't have a video of a guy getting hurt. Heh, that's good stuff.

Ugh, I don't like having to link to something Jay Leno related, but these guys are pretty good. Kinda like mime, but with all the odd crap removed, like the makeup and the black clothes and the silence.

You know, I've never seen a mime in real life, so I don't know why I should have anything against them. All I know of mimes is what I've seen on TV, and they really do look rather odd.

Now, I'm a geek, I'll admit it. Geek, nerd, loser, whatever. I'm it. I'm okay with that. But I've gotta say, it's people like this that make me almost ashamed to say that. Way to raise the bar, guys.

And since I'm talking Star Wars, I can't pass up the chance to post this again. If you've never seen Triumph the Insult Comic Dog vs the Star Wars crowd, you owe it to yourself and to your country to check this out.

For America!

I don't know where any of that came from. Moving on. As I said in a previous post "Umm.." Well, I don't remember the words exactly, but I remember saying I thought it was cool that people are doing covers of video game music. So, with that, I present Nintendo Themes Acapella. Really pretty cool, except for the jackass jumping around on the front of the stage. He certainly doesn't look stupid. No sir.

Anyway, I'm outta stuff to talk about, so I'm just gonna leave now. Back in a week.

Oh! One more thing. Go see Sin City. That is all.

posted by StevePosted by Steve on April 15, 2005: New comic here. It's worth mentioning that this comic was written at least a month or two ago, when the EA/NFL deal was announced. But then, a few days ago, it was announced that EA had bought out the exclusive rights to NCAA football, so suddenly we're topical. I love when that happens.

I'd just like to echo Bob's opinion of Comcast. It's been awful all week. But then I never have links for you guys anyway, so no difference there, really.

That's all for now. See you next week.
