But...300 Dollars and A Shirt!

Posted by Bob on August 20, 2004: I wrote today's comic, if you consider "writing" to mean that I had this exact conversation with a clerk at a video game store. I mean, it was Steve who said "We should make a comic outta that." I've got no control there. So, maybe Steve wrote it, since he converted my AIM log and put it in the script file he sends me weekly. But yeah. This is (more or less) word for word what the dude said to me. I went in to buy Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, (a killer game, by the way) and the dude jumps on me about Doom 3. Look man, I care so little about PC gaming I don't even know where to begin talking about it. Maybe that's cause the only game I can run on my PC is the Sims. Or maybe that's irrelevant. Point is, It was great that the cat's only arguement about buying the game was because it was Doom 3. Too funny.

Last week was the comic-con and it was a blast. Of course, Amanda and I took some pictures. Click here to go to the forum and see them, as well as a tiny little report. I have heard this rumor since Freddy vs. Jason came out, and I'm still kinda on the fence on where I want it to go. It could be either the coolest thing ever, or it could absolutely suck total ass. I suppose time will tell.

I made up fifty something books for the con, and I've got around twenty left. If anyone wants one, I suppose I can be talked into selling them. I dunno, two or three bucks maybe? I've never dealt with this before, so if you're at all interested, just shoot me an email and we'll work something out.

I know this is one of the shorter newsposts I've done lately, but give me some credit; the forum post is rather large. So, check that out and we'll be back in a week, okay?

Posted by Steve on August 20, 2004: So, we check in on the Doom 3 issue. Bear in mind, I'll freely admit I haven't played Doom 3, and I probably won't. I don't even own a PC. It just seems to me that the first person shooter genre as a whole hasn't made much progress. I mean, at the end of the day, its still going room to room, down dark hallways, killing weird looking monsters with high powered weapons. If more first person shooters had as much adventure type shit that Metroid Prime has, I'd be right there. As it stands, there's a small handful of FPS that I like, and the rest I couldn't care less about.

At any rate, this is basically a word for word conversation Bob had with a game store employee. I wasn't there, but I guess the dude was just stunned that there's actually people who couldn't give shit about Doom 3.

P.S. Sorry the update was so late, but Comcast was for sucks again. Broadband is great when it's fucking working. Apparently that's a bit too much to ask for.
