posted by StevePosted by Steve on July 2, 2004: New Comic here. Normally Bob's post starts the front page off and introduces you guys to the new comic, but Bob doesn't seem to be online right now and I don't have his post. He may actually have a news post, and he may add it later, but I can't be sure. So, I'll take the main posting duties for this week.

First of all, the "news", in case you missed it. We'd have had this comic done earlier, but the news broke right in the middle of the Ticketlord story, so we were kinda stuck. Better late than never, I guess.

Sorry in advance to any Good Charlotte fans. If their music is your thing, more power to you. To be honest, while I'm definitely not a fan, they don't exactly make my blood boil or anything. I just liked that line more than anything else. Truth be told, I'd have much rather have had the sign take a shot at Simple Plan, who really pass over into annoying, but I don't think anyone, even people who know nothing about music, would consider them punk. So, it just sorta ended up being Good Charlotte by default. Sorry.

Oh, and please don't paint a mental picture of me as some elitist punk snob or something. To be honest, punk as a whole isn't really my thing. In my cd collection I've got probably 2 that could be considered punk, both bought back when I was in High School. (yes, they had cd's back then) Hell, I give Bob shit for listening to the Ramones, and they're the fucking Ramones. Punk's just doesn't do anything for me.

I say all this because waaaaaaaaaay back in the day, we did a comic about No Doubt. And, judging from the server logs, it's been linked from every No Doubt fan site/blog/message board on the planet, sometimes with a pretty harsh reaction. So to you guys I say this: relax. I wasn't trying to insult the group, it was just an observation of the fact that, the longer the band goes on, the more it seems to go from "the band No Doubt" to "Gwen Stefani and some backup band", especially when it comes to face time on videos. I've got nothing against the band, honest. Also, it's comic number 41 in an archive of 123 and counting. Please don't take it as an indicator of our comic making abilities.

Then again, like my grandmother says, fuck 'em if they can't take a joke. See you next week.

posted by BobPosted by Bob on July 2, 2004: Two weeks ago (I think) I mentioned that Creed was breaking up. Like I said, I thought we had one last Creed Comic left in us, and it turns out I was right. So, there ya go. Unless Scott Stapp does something stupid, I think we're done with Creed. We're gonna have to come up with a new band to pick on. Or did we already? I guess the comic will provide all the answers you seek, young one. In other site news, my goal to update the old comics with new commentary has kinda fallen apart. I plan to finish it up eventually. Someday. Right.

So, apparantley, Michael Bay is the new director of Superman. I dunno, I'll believe it when it goes into production. So far, it was Tim Burton, McG, Brett Ratner, M. Night Shamalamadingdong, McG again, me, and now Michael Bay on the seemingly unending list of Superman directors. So pardon me if I'm a little skeptical. But if anyone can do it, it's Michael Bay. His movies are always fast and flashy, and I think that could be good for a Superman movie.

I picked up the new Spider-Man 2 game. It's pretty fun. The day I bought it, Amanda and I played it for a good four hours straight. She's actually playing it right now as I type this. I like the open ended gameplay, but I really dig the feeling of just swinging any damn place in New York. It's really fun to ignore the missions and just climb buildings and jump off and start swinging at the very last second before you crash into the ground. Tobey Maguire still sucks at video game voiceovers. He's better in this than in the first one, where it sounded like he was asleep during the recording session, but I still would have preferred Rino Romano or even Neil Patrick Harris. Beyond that though, this game gets my recommendation.

I also picked up Red Dead Revolver, Thief: Deadly Shadows and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I'm a consumer whore, what can I say? RTCW is really fun. Just what you'd expect; first person Nazi blasting is always a good time in my book. Red Dead Revolver is really good too. It reminds me of an old west style Max Payne. And you know I loves me some Max Payne. The characters have a very Capcom feel to them, (makes sense, it was originally a Capcom game,) and it's got a Rockstar gameplay vibe to it. Overall, I recommend that one too. Thief, however, I've barely played. It is so dark that it's impossible to play in the day time, cause the reflection from the windows just overwhelm everything on screen. There are times where it's so dark, all you really is the on-screen HUD. What little I've played seemed cool, but like I said, I haven't spent much time with it.

I think that's all I've got for now. Let's hope Steve has some fun things to say this week, instead of the same ol' "I've got nothing to say, but Bob does, so I don't have to fill anything up." Cause he's a bitch like that. Damn him. between you and I, I really hate him too! Anyway, I'm going to see Spider-Man 2 soon, so my mind is a bit distracted. I may come back later* and add more to my post, so keep your eyes open. But if not, then I'll be back in seven with my review (as it were) of Spider-Man 2!

Yeah, I probably won't.
